University of Utah Co-Sponsors Computer Conference

The University of Utah and Apple Computer, Inc.  are co-sponsoring
MacAdemia '88:  The Knowledge Navigator, a conference presenting examples of
the wide variety of uses for the Macintosh computer in the academic,
scientific, and business communities.  The conference will be held on the
University of Utah campus, March 21 & 22, 1988.  Keynote speaker on March 21st
is Michael Liebhold, manager of Media Systems Development for Apple Computer,
who has extensive experience with video disks and CD ROM.

Introduced in 1984, the Apple Macintosh* computer rapidly invaded the academic,
scientific, and business world, as an easy to learn, easy to use, graphically
oriented computer "for the rest of us"   Today, students in many disciplines
are using the Macintosh to write documents or books,  perform experiments,
manipulate data, create art, communicate with other computers, and much more.


MacAdemia '88:  The Knowledge Navigator,  is a showcase conference, presenting
What, Why, and How students, faculty and staff of the University of Utah, Utah
State University, Weber State College, and Brigham Young University  are using
the Macintosh for instruction and research.   Over 40 presentations will
highlight the many uses of the computer in a wide variety of situations.  

The conference will be of interest to Macintosh owners as well as those
considering buying their first computer.  Session content will appeal to
educators, departments, students, writers, developers and technicians.  

Conference registration is $25 at the door, which includes lunch on both days,
a Monday night banquet with Governor Norman Bangerter as the featured speaker
and Macintosh generated/controlled electronic music as enertainment, parking
passes, and a copy of the conference Proceedings.
