	11th Annual Short Course on Solid Modeling
		University of Southern California
			Los Angeles, CA
			May 9-13, 1988

Principal Instructors: Prof. A. Requicha, Prof. H. Voelcker

This is a course offered by the Programmable Automation Laboratory,
Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, of USC, in collaboration
with the Cornell Programmable Automation group, Cornell Manufacturing
Engineering and Productivity Program, of Cornell University.

About half the course will be devoted to solid modeling fundamentals:
tutorial seminars of pertinent topics from geometry, topology and mechanics;
characterization of represenation schemes for nominal, perfect-form
solids; fundamental algorithms based on set membership classification; and
what is known about theories and algorithms for handling mechanical
tolerancing and geometric constraints.

About 40% of the course will address applications, with the remainder
of the course concentrating on broad system issues, past and present
architectures, and future research directions.
