The following is some publicity which I received from the EDIF Administration Office relating to an EDIF Users event in the USA. *************************************************************************** ELECTRONIC DESIGN INTERCHANGE FORMAT `EDIF WORLD' - EDIF USERS' MEETING Clarion Hotel - Colorado Springs September 26-29, 1988 Beginning Monday evening, September 26th, EDIF Users and those who wish to become EDIF Users will convene for the biggest USA EDIF Users' meeting yet. With nearly 3000 members around the world, with EDIF Users in many European countries, with EDIF V 2 0 0 approved by ANSI/EIA Standard 548, with three Local User Groups in the USA, with many EDIF projects completed and in production use, the EDIF Users will be meeting to exchange stories of EDIF success and EDIF failure, for celebration and for planning. The workshop will begin with EDIF demonstrations on Monday evening. Dr. Paul Stanford, Texas Instruments, Technical Program Chairman for the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning sessions promises many interesting papers. Tuesday evening will feature LUG and SIG meetings with more EDIF demonstrations. An EDIF Users' Banquet will liven Wednesday evening. The EDIF Schematic Technical Subcommittee will be hosting an exhibit area to allow Users to witness EDIF file exchanges between different CAD systems. Among those expected are Cadnetix, IBM, HP, Mentor, Teradyne, TI, Valid Logic and ViewLogic Systems. Valerie McCord, ViewLogic Systems will summarise lessons learned from the recent 2 0 0 schematic exchanges of the EDIF Schematic Technical Subcommittee. At a Wednesday afternoon panel session organised by Dave Ressler, CAD vendor representatives will describe their EDIF strategies with time allowed for audience questions. At a Thursday morning session the EDIF Technical Committee will respond to questions and it will seek User input for future EDIF enhancements. Dr. David Chalmers, Technical Program Chairman of the Second European EDIF Forum is coming with other European EDIF Users. Hilary Kahn, responsible for the public-domain University of Manchester EDIF parser, will be presenting posters on both the Manchester Parser and Manchester CAD environment. John Eurich, whose Engineering DataXpress has completed many succesful EDIF projects, will share his views on the technical and project management challenges of EDIF. The EDIF Technical Committee and Technical Subcommittees will be meeting in conjunction with `EDIF World' at the Clarion and more, much more ... The meeting will close at noon on Thursday.
