TORONTO LOCAL SIGGRAPH EVENT
June 19, 8 pm
AVID/1 Technology Demonstration by Video Design Systems.

A super event is lined up for our next meeting on Tuesday, June 19 at 8
pm. The role of computer (graphics) assisted technology in video
editing is growing in importance and we'll have a chance to see for
ourselves what the issues are. David Ray from Video Design Systems
will be demonstrating the Avid/1 Media Composer. This product
digitizes video onto a Mac II hard disk, and then offers a whole user
environment to support the process of editing the final piece.
Non-linear, random-accesss digital editing make for a more productive
off-line edit, to say the least.

To help set the context for this demo, George Roulston will do a short
talk on the video/film editing task in general. He began his career at
the BBC, and has specialized in electronic film editing for television
drama since 1970.

This will be a great evening for video folk, Mac graphics types, and user
interface/HCI people. Please call Stephen Price at Topix, 971-7711, to
confirm your attendance. He'll give you more details on the meeting.

/Bill Wright, Design Vision

See you there!
