CONVENTION UNIX '89 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Conference/Exhibition announcement & call for papers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As in previous years, the Assiciation Francaise des Utilisateurs d'Unix (AFUU) will be organising a combined conference and exhibition in 1989. The event will take place in Paris, from the 28th February to the 3rd of March 1989. The event is divided into the following sections: Technical Conference. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any person or organisation wishing to present a paper at this conference should contact the AFUU as soon as possible, sending a resume of the proposed presentation, to: AFUU Conferences Techniques CONVENTION UNIX '89 11 rue Carnot 94270 Le Kremlin-Bicetre FRANCE Tel: +33 1 46 70 95 90 Telex: 263887 F Email: anne@afuu.fr The proposed themes for the conference are listed below, but the program committee will be happy to consider other propositions: Distributed Systems User Interfaces Security New Architectures Real Time Fault Tolerance Object oriented environments Performance Networking and Communications Standardisation Applications: DBMS, IA, Videotex Tutorials ~~~~~~~~~ A series of tutorials will be available, these will cover technical aspects of UNIX in considerable depth. Please contact the AFUU for further details - NOTE: all tutorials will be given in French. Exhibition ~~~~~~~~~~ The exhibition is organised in collabaration with the Bureau International de Relations Publiques (B.I.R.P.). It is currently one of the most successfull, and one of the largest purely UNIX exhibitions in Europe, and attracts a large number of visitors. In 1988 there were more than 100 exibitors, and 6000 visitors, including 800 overseas visitors. Any potential exhibitors should contact the BIRP at the address below: B.I.R.P. Any exhibitors interested in taking advantage of this possibility are asked to contact the AFUU as soon as possible to reserve a slot for their presentation. Communications concerning commercial presentations should be clearly marked: "Presentations Commerciales" User experiences - debates ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Running in parelle with the technical conferences, during the 2nd and 3rd of March, these days will be dedicated to presentations of experience of the use of UNIX, and debates on the market and strategy for UNIX. NOTE: The official language of the whole event is French, although it is expected that due to the international nature of this event, several presentations will be made in English. ---------------------------------------------------- The AFUU is the French national UNIX user group, and member of the EUUG. It is a non-profit making organisation, sponsoring conferences, workshops and an annual exhibition. It publishes a bi-monthly newsletter devoted to the UNIX community (TRIBUNIX).
