On Saturday, October 8, Washington Physicians for
Social Responsibility is presenting a day-long symposium on unintentional
nuclear war, called "Who's in control?".  Keynote speaker is Ted Taylor,
former Los Alamos nuclear weapons designer who was the subject of John
McPhee's book, THE CURVE OF BINDING ENERGY.  Also on the program are
Bruce Blair, a former Minuteman launch control office who now writes on
nuclear command and control for the Brookings Institution, Sandy Thomas
of Congress' Office of Technology Assessment and one of the authors of their
recent report on SDI, Rear Admiral Eugene J. Carrol, USN (ret.), economist
Lloyd Dumas, and PSR physicians Herbert Abrams and Judith Lipton.

The event will be held in Meany Theater on the UW campus, 9 am - 5 pm
Saturday Oct. 8.  In-person registration in 8 - 9 am.  There is a fee:
before Oct 3, $15 general, $10 students; after Oct. 3, $20 general, $10
