Alvey HCI Club Interactive Learning Systems SIG Hypertext 2 University of York 29th and 30th June 1989 Following the first successful meeting in the University of Aberdeen (March 1988), it has been decided to arrange a larger conference devoted to hypertext in 1989. The programme will include papers from invited experts; papers from active workers in the UK and abroad; workshops and seminars on specific aspects of hypertext and hypermedia. There will be demonstrations of working systems. Papers from the conference will be published in 1989. Keynote address from Ted Nelson, pioneer of hypertext ---------- Invited Symposia * Hypermedia, Design and Engineering (convened by Jeff Conklin of MCC) * Hypertext and Instructional Design (from Xerox PARC) * Learning and Hypertext * Documentation and Hypertext * HyperCard as Hypertext The topics covered will include: Hypermedia Navigation and browsing in hypertext Authoring for hypermedia Information retrieval and hypertext User studies of hypertext systems Hypertext theory User Interfaces to hypertext Knowledge Representation and hypermedia Learning applied to hypermedia Tools for hypermedia Papers will be accepted on any of the above general topics. To have a paper considered, please submit an abstract of 400 words giving a Title, outline of paper and methods of presentation (ie talk, discussion, workshop, etc). *Abstracts* should be submitted by 27th January 1989. Successful presenters will be notified by 24th February 1989. *Papers* will be required by 1st May 1989.
