			 ONE DAY SEMINAR
	      *					  *
		   UNIVERSITY OF WALES, SWANSEA
	      *					  *
		    THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 1989
	      *************************************

Network Management has by sheer necessity become the hottest issue in
Information Technology. Managing bandwidth and resources are critical
in controlling costs and maximising the return on an investment in a
network, while offering the greatest array of services as business
activity demands.

For the first time the industry heavyweights are brought together
under the auspices of i2it, University of Wales, Swansea, to
discuss their strategy to control and manage computer and
communications systems. The seminar will explore the importance of
Network Management across national boundaries particularly in respect
of 1992 and the evolving European community market.

>From a carrier/PTT perspective British Telecom will discuss their
Open Network Architecture (ONA) and its close association with
developing OSI Network Management standards.

Digital Equipment Corporation and IBM describe their respective
Network Management Systems and its importance in the control, not
only of their equipment but for other suppliers' equipment.

Suppliers of predominantly communication equipment, are represented by
Newbridge Networks, GPT and STC Telecommunications who examine the
requirement for managed private telecommunication equipment both
nationally and internationally.

Lastly, the European Community representative provides an insight
to European policies and legislations in respect of 1992 and how
they will influence market trends in Communications and Computer
Systems.
