(This announcement is about an IMAX film, and I work for the company.
If you hate commercial announcements, skip this article NOW).

On the other hand, I believe there are enough people out there
that would be interested in this to justify spreading the news
this way. And I'd certainly post this if I didn't work here!
===================================================================

A new IMAX film called "The Blue Planet" has just been released,
and it started running at Ontario Place's Cinesphere last Friday.

It is an "IMAX space film" in that it uses a considerable amount
of footage of the Earth shot from space (7 Shuttle flights in all).
But it's not really a space film at all, because the film is about
the earth, not the space program.

It talks about some of the unique characteristics of the earth,
and the forces that shape it. It also considers mankind's effect
on the earth, and the rate at which we're changing it.

There's also a 105-second sequence of computer graphics done by
the Jet Propulsion Lab that some may find interesting.

"North of Superior" is an IMAX film that was made 20 years ago for
the opening of Ontario Place. It's still one of the best.
