`LANDMARKS IN ELECTRONIC PUBLISHING' A Two-Day Seminar at Durham University, England April 13-14 1989 The Meeting ----------- Following the success of its series of one-day seminars over the past four years, the BCS Electronic Publishing Specialist group is holding its first two-day meeting at Durham University in April 1989. There will be no fewer than SIX keynote speakers, together with a number of shorter talks. Under the title `Landmarks in Electronic Publishing' the presentations will focus on the key issues of Standards and Integration. Keynote Speakers ---------------- * Glenn Reid - manager of the PostScript Developer Tools and Strategies Group at ADOBE Systems - will give "A Perspective on the PostScript Language". * Richard Patterson - technical director of Hyphen Editorial Systems - will talk on "Cloning PostScript". * James Gosling - of Sun Microsystems - will give an overview of the News window system and discuss the decision to use the PostScript language. * William Newman - of Xerox EuroPARC - will talk about present and future integration of publishing software. * Chris Hugh-Jones - of `The Independent' - will reveal how high technology fits together in the production of a daily newspaper. * Dick Mathews - of Aldus Corporation - will give a comprehensive account of "PageMaker - Past, Present and Future". The Venue --------- At the University of Durham in the North of England. Worth visiting just for the views of Durham's magnificent cathedral.
