Because top level newsgroups are generally frowned upon, I suggest that net.india should be net.nlang.india. "But it isn't just about Indian languages!" Yes, I know. But it is a quaint and barely historical tradition to put the "foreign cultures" stuff under net.nlang. Net.nlang.greek isn't just discussions about Greek language (but I can't read it anyway ....), and net.nlang.celts -- well, it covers a broad range of Celtic and quazi-Celtic stuff.... "Then net.nlang is misnamed. It should be called something else!" Too late. Changing a newsgroup name (let alone two) is a horrible painful process that disturbs the auras of many net users. It is easier to live with the mistake. Besides, confusing anomalies like this give Usenet it's unique character. Makes a nice ice-breaker ("So why is this called 'net.NLANG.india', anyway?"). -- Gordon A. Moffett ...!{ihnp4,hplabs,sun}!amdahl!gam
