Workshop on Object-Based Concurrency ECOOP, July 12, 1989 A workshop on research issues in concurrent object-based programming languages will be held during ECOOP '89. The goal of this workshop is to gather together researchers actively working in the area of concurrency in object-based and object-oriented programming languages, in order to examine the current state of the research and to clearly identify and contrast the various research positions. Researchers wishing to attend are invited to prepare a three-page position statement identifying their current research interests. Since active participation in the workshop is a priority, researchers are encouraged to state positions that are controversial and that they are willing to defend. Proposed topics for discussion include: - computational models of concurrency - reference models for comparing approaches - primitives for concurrent languages - requirements for concurrent language design - measures for evaluating concurrent language design - encapsulation of concurrent behaviour for re-use - concurrency and polymorphic type theory - fine-grain vs. course grain parallelism Please send contributions by May 15, 1989 by post or electronic mail to: Oscar Nierstrasz Centre Universitaire d'Informatique 12 rue du Lac CH-1207 Geneva SWITZERLAND E-mail: oscar@cuisun.unige.ch, oscar@cgeuge51.bitnet, oscar@cui.uucp Tel: 41 (22) 87.65.80, Fax: 41 (22) 35.39.05, Telex: 423 801 UNI CH NB: Those who have already submitted position statements to the OBCP workshop originally planned for Geneva, July 3-4, need not re-submit. They will be contacted by mail.
