			  THIRD EUROPEAN EDIF FORUM
			  =========================

			     12, 13 October 1989
		    Maritim Hotel/Koenigswinter, Germany

			   CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
			   ======================

Organized by the German EDIF Interest Group
			  in cooperation with the
		      European EDIF Steering Committee

				  EDIF
				  ----

EDIF - the Electronic Design Interchange Format - is a formal ANSI/EIA
standard. Furthermore, EDIF has already become the *de facto* industry
standard, widely used by companies and research laboratories in the USA,
Europe and Japan. Since EDIF Version 2 0 0 was published in March 1987,
many real EDIF implementations have been developed.

			       Forum Objectives
			       ----------------

The objectives of the Forum are to promote awareness and interest in EDIF,
to show experiences to date with EDIF and to stimulate technical activity
related to EDIF.

				 Forum Topics
				 ------------
The Forum will focus on:

-	the technical content of EDIF Version 2 0 0,
-	experiences of working with EDIF.

Technical contributions on - but not limited to - the following areas of
interest are invited:

-	EDIF and Printed Circuit Boards
-	EDIF and simulation
-	EDIF and CAD Frameworks
-	The validation of EDIF interfaces
-	EDIF and Computer Integrated Manufacturing
-	Proposals for Extensions to EDIF.

			      Forum Presentations
			      -------------------

The first two European EDIF Forums adopted the policy of making no technical
distinction between poster presentations and paper presentations. In both
cases, full papers were published in the Forum Proceedings. This scheme has
proved very successful, and it will be used again for the Third European
EDIF Forum.

				  Abstracts

If you are interested in submitting a paper to this international forum,
please submit an abstract by June 1st 1989. This abstract should not exceed
400 words in length and should provide sufficient information to allow
assessment of the scope and relevance of your proposed paper. Abstracts
should be sent to the Conference Secretariat at GMD.
