will be held July 14-16, 1989, at the Dolphin Beach Resort in
St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. You do not have to be a club
member to attend.

The focus of this year's gathering is transborder broadcasting in
the Caribbean region and Central America. Here is our current
list of confirmed speakers. There may be further additions:

On the afternoon of July 14th there will be a continuous screening
of English-language videos from the ITU Library, including: "BLACK
BAMBOO" (design and construction of the Indonesian Radio Monitoring
Center's antenna system); "GRIMETON" (construction/operation of
one of the world's most powerful radiotelegraph stations in Sweden
in the 1920s); "TALE OF A TOWER" (construction of a 1080-foot
concrete antenna tower in England); "TELECOMMUNICATIONS DEVELOPMENT
IN BURMA" (telegraphy, telephony and radio, 1857-1987); "TOKTOK"
(building a microwave network in Papua New Guinea); "THE VITAL LINK
FOR SAILORS" (a day at Danish Coastal Radio); "WINDOW ON THE WORLD"
(history of television in Europe).

The Dolphin Beach Resort Hotel has agreed to offer the special
ANARCON room-rates for as many days as you want before and after the
convention, so you can plan a family vacation around the event.

Buses to the Dolphin Beach Resort run regularly from Tampa
International Airport. For those travelling by car, take
Interstates 75 and 275 to St. Pete Beach.

Monday, July 17 (optional): All-day trip to Orlando to visit
either Disney World or EPCOT Center. Bus pick-up/drop-off at
the hotel.
