			  Bombay, INDIA
		      November 22-24, 1989

		  Application for Travel Grants

On behalf of the Program Committee of TENCON-89, I am	happy to
announce that some travel funds have been made available to us by
the National Science Foundation. Please use the enclosed form to
apply for travel support. The funds granted are substantially
lesser than what we had asked for, and we request only those peo-
ple to apply who have absolutely no other means of support. Ap-
plicants shall be considered in the following two categories.
Those in the first category will be given priority.
o Participants who have volunteered their time and effort in
managing the organizational aspects of the conference. This in-
cludes organizing and chairing technical sessions, and working
  on conference organization.
o Participants who will be making technical	contributions to
the conference. This includes authoring/presenting papers, par-
ticipating in panel discussions/ poster sessions, and present-
  ing tutorials.

Any member of the US scientific community, irrespective of na-
tionality, who performs research in the US is eligible to apply.
Awards will be given without consideration of sex, race, color,
or national origin.	Awards	will only cover economy class air
fare (an American carrier has to be used).

All awards will be paid upon receipt of documented Conference
registration and travel, and a brief Trip Report. Applications
will be accepted till July 31, 1989, and award recipients will be
notified by August 31, 1989. Travel expense accounting and asso-
ciated receipts, together with the trip report, must be sent by
award recipients to the Travel Grant Committee Co-chair within
two weeks of the conference. Travel grant recipients will be
determined by a selection committee without regard to sex, race,
color, or national origin.
