European Workshop on Modelling Autonomous Agents
			in a Multi Agent World

		     Cambridge, August 16-18, 1989
			    King's College

THE WORKSHOP

The purpose of the Workshop is to stimulate exchange and
discussions on the artificial intelligence models of an autonomous
agent having to interact with other autonomous entities. An
autonomous agent is defined as having his own goals, capabilities
and knowledge. The multi-agent problems arise when several
autonomous agents share a common environment. These problems
are due to limited ressources, shared or competing goals, etc.
Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) occurs as a special case of
the problem but our main concern deals with complementary
aspects of DAI by allowing the agents to have unrelated goals. As
a consequence they have to deal with implicit and/or explicit
interactions among themselves. Leading experts of the domain will
be invited to give presentations. This Workshop is sponsored by
the CEE through a COST-13 project grant.
