THIRD EUROPEAN EDIF FORUM ========================= Bonn, Germany 12th, 13th October 1989 Organized by the German EDIF Interest Group in cooperation with European EDIF Groups ________________________________________________________________________ CAD Integration --------------- In recent years, the integration and interworking of CAD systems and CAD tools has been identified as a topic of considerable importance. Several standardisation efforts have started, and foremost among these has been the development of a standard data exchange format for electronic design data. EDIF ---- EDIF, the Electronic Design Interchange Format, is a formal ANSI/EIA standard. Furthermore, EDIF has already become the *de facto* industry standard, widely used by companies and research laboratories in the USA, Europe and Japan. Since EDIF Version 2 0 0 was published in March 1987, many real EDIF implementations have been developed. Forum Programme --------------- After two successful European EDIF Forums in Brussels and Amsterdam, a third European EDIF Forum will be held in Bonn, Germany, on 12th and 13th October 1989. The Forum will start on October 12th, at 9.30 a.m. and will close on October 13th. at 2.00 p.m. It will be divided into the following sessions: Session I --------- EDIF and CAD Frameworks Session Chair Hilary Khan, University of Manchester, UK. Session II ---------- EDIF and other Standardisation Efforts Session Chair Elfriede Abel, GMD, Germany. Panel Session ------------- EDIF Exploitations Panel Chair Herwig Heckl, GMD, Germany. Session III ----------- Experiences in the Application of EDIF Session Chair Fadhel Abdesslem, LIFL, University of Lille, France. Session IV ---------- EDIF Implementation Issues Session Chair Frank van Latum, Philips, The Netherlands. Panel Session ------------- The EDIF Technical (Sub)Committees Each session will consist of presentations and posters. Currently, the Forum Committee has received papers from a wide range of universities and companies from several countries in Europe, as well as from the USA. In the panel session "EDIF Exploitations", several large European companies and large standardisation projects will describe and discuss their interest in EDIF and plans for its use. The "EDIF Technical (Sub)Committees" panel session will summarise the current status and technical activities of these committees. Forum related Meetings ---------------------- The existence of the European EDIF Forum is acting as a focus for a number of related meetings. In particular, there will be a public CFI Meeting on October 10th and 11th, also at the Maritim Hotel. In addition, a number of EDIF Technical Subcommittee and EDIF Working Group Meetings are being organized in association with the Forum. The Forum as well as these other meetings will offer you an excellent and unique opportunity to discuss with experts in the field of data exchange and CAD Frameworks in general.
