                   Instructional Computing Strategies

                            Higher Education

     The University of North Dakota and IBM Academic Information Systems
(ACIS) are co-sponsoring the Instructional Computing Strategies in High-
er Education Conference on October 6-7, 1989.  Included in the program
are nationally known consulting scholars who have taken one-year leaves
of absence from their university positions to study and teach in the
field of instructional computing.  The scholars are:  William H. Graves,
Special Assistant to the Provost and Professor of Mathematics at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Fred T. Hofstetter, Assoc-
iate Provost for Academic Computing and Instructional Technology at the
University of Delaware; and Loretta L. Jones, Associate Director of the
General Chemistry Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Cham-
paign.  William H. Graves will be speaking on "Silicon Synergy", Fred
T. Hofstetter's topic is "The IBM PS/2 as a Multimedia Instructional
Tool", and Loretta L. Jones is speaking on "The Interactive Multimedia
Based Curriculum in Higher Education".
     The conference registration fee is $6.00, and includes a banquet
 Friday evening, a continental breakfast Saturday morning, and refresh-
 ments during the breaks.
