Preliminary announcement and call for papers Second National Symposium on Concurrent Engineering February 7-9, 1990-Morgantown, W.VA Symposium chair: Ramana Reddy, Director CERC Program chair: Ralph Wood, GE Corporate Research and Development Conference theme: Emerging Prototypes for CE The symposium will focus on methodologies for CE with special emphasis on developing prototypes. Plenary sessions as well as small group sessions will be held corresponding salient symposium topics. Contributions are sought that emphasize the design and demonstration of proto- type information management systems to aid in the implementation of CE for complex product development applications. Prototypes are preferably, but not limited to, technology-aided solutions involving concepts, such as models, in- formation management architecture and methods, tools or services that empower the CE process. Prospective authors are requested to submit a title, a 300- 500 word abstract and the CERC Paper Submittal Form by Nov. 1, 1989, to Program chair Ralph Wood, CERC, WVU, Drawer 2000, Morgantown, W.VA. 26506. Additional Paper Submittal Forms are available from John Spears at the same address. Decisions on acceptance will be made by November 15, 1989. Final papers are due January 15, 1990. Efforts will be made to accomodate a limited number of demonstrations. Requirements for demonstrations must be defined and submitted by December 1, 1989, to the Program Chair. Proceedings from the symposium are anticipated. Main authors will receive a complimentary copy of the proceedings containing the papers. The main author is the author corresponding with CERC. All published authors may purchase reprints of papers at cost.
