Theme: Shortening the path from specification to prototype
Place: Sheraton Imperial Center, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
   Date: June 5-7, 1990
***************************************************************************

PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP: The 1990 International Rapid System Prototyping
workshop is intended to bring together system designers, modeling and tool
developers, integrated circuit designers, and test experts to explore
synergistically problems, issues, and techniques in the area of rapid
system prototyping. Areas of special interest are system specification,
system modeling, system design, system test and validation, and system life
cycle cost. Issues concerning the interrelations of these areas are of
particular interest.

Presentations related to models that emulate systems functions in a
hierarchical sense, hardware to software mapping, model validation
techniques, and design for manufacturing that illustrate the benefits of
rapid system prototyping are solicited.

FORMAT OF THE WORKSHOP: High interaction among the participants involved
in different phases of the system prototyping process is the point of
emphasis in this workshop. A three-hour session will be conducted for each
topic to be explored. Thirty-minute presentations will be conducted during
a session. An abstract of the presentations will be published in the
workshop record which will be available to the participants at registration.
During the presentations the use of recording and/or photographic equipment
is strictly prohibited.

PARTICIPATION IN THE WORKSHOP: Attendance at the workshop is limited
to 150 persons, and is by invitation. To receive an invitation for
participation, send a letter to the Program Chairman briefly outlining your
area of involvement in system prototyping and your qualifications to be a
working participant. To submit a paper for consideration, send an extended
summary to the Program Chairman. Your letter or paper submission must be
received by February 15, 1990. You will be notified of acceptance by
March 15, 1990.

       Workshop Chairman: Program Chairman:

PROGRAM COMMITTEE: Steve Roberts (Purdue University), Greg Diehl (Network
Dynamics), Rajan Suri (University of Wisconsin), Warren Debany (Rome Air
Development Center), Michael Marhoefer (Siemens AG), Bernard Courtois
(IMAG France), John Toole (DARPA).

WORKSHOP LOCATION INFORMATION: The Sheraton Imperial Hotel, conveniently
located just one exit from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport,
is adjacent to the largest planned research park in the United States,
Research Triangle Park. RTP is a center for scientific and technological
innovations, consisting of over 50 corporations.

Three major cities surround Research Triangle Park. Raleigh is the
state capital and home to North Carolina State University. Durham has Duke
University and Duke Medical Center, and there's the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.

MORE INFORMATION: If you wish more information about the workshop,
contact the Workshop Program Chairman. An advance program will be
made available to the participants May 1, 1990.
