Scope		:	With the widespread acceptance very significant
			efforts in Open Systems Interconnection of ISO,
			the Software Engineering of Protocols is assuming
			tremendous importance. This tutorial addresses
			the issues in selection of a fundamental standard
			of OSI for LANs and discusses issues in actual
			implementation in different operating environments.
			A real-life example of such an implementation,
			OSINET of IIT Madras will be present as a case study.
