SESSION ON
DIGITAL SERVICES PERFORMANCE
(Dedicated and Switched Services)
Under the auspices of IEEE, papers are invited for a session on
"Digital Services Performance" of both dedicated and switched
services. In today's competitive world of telecommunication
services, it is very important for digital service providers to
supply and maintain high quality, highly reliable networks to
satisfy customer needs. This session will focus on the various
digital service performance parameters, objectives for these
parameters, monitoring methods and maintenance strategies. The
parameters include non-intrusive on-line monitoring parameters and
(Extended Superframe Format) parameters or the acceptance and test
parameters based on ESF (Extended Superframe Format)/BER (Bit Error
Ratio). The services include DS0, DS1, DS3 and higher rates
provided by terrestrial, cable, radio and satellite systems. The
following are some sample topics.
o Service Parameters/Objectives
o Service Availability/Reliability/Quality
o Performance Allocations/Methodology (Access/Inter-exchange
Carriers)
o Acceptance & Maintenance Tests/Methods/Limits
o Proactive Maintenance
o ESF/C-Bit Parity/ANSI/CCITT Standards
o Automatic Provisioning
o Synchronization
o Human Factors
Prospective authors should adhere to the following schedule:
Oct. 30, 1990 Short Abstract (Approx. 750 words)
Dec. 30, 1990 Full-length paper (Approx. 2500 words)
Feb. 15, 1991 Notification of acceptance to authors
May 30, 1991 Photo-ready copy of the final version of
complete paper
