Hi Folks:
I was wondering if some of you could share your meditational techniques,
and details about how effective it has been for you and give further
practical advice.
As for myself I have tried two different techniques both very sparingly
(I am quite a beginner).
The first, which I learnt in a TM center, involved chanting a syllable
(mantra). You dont attempt to suppress other thoughts but just keep
leading back to the mantra. No attention on the breath or anything else.
The second, I learnt in a zen class, which involved counting your
breath from 1 to 10 and starting over again. The moment you realise that
you are not counting anymore, you try and get back to it. I have also
seen some people practice walking meditation with this technique.
Also how important is the posture.
thanks much for all you responses,
Ramesh
