Representatives of both COSUARD and Southwestern Bell met Friday, October 27, 1988 to exchange information and explore possible measures that would resolve the current rate dispute. Present at the meeting representing COSUARD were: Reginald Hirsch, President; Jim Westbrook, Vice-President; Ed Hopper, Secretary; Judy Scheltema, Treasurer; June Parchman, Merrilyn Vaughan, Steve Nuchia, George Pardue and Susan King, Board Members. Representing Southwestern Bell were: Wayne Alexander, Vice-President of Marketing; Ken Brasel, Vice-President of Public Relations; and Ron Elmore, Rates and Tariff Analyst. Southwestern Bell informed COSUARD that they intended to re-contact everyone who was reclassified to business rates. Southwestern Bell will send a letter to each affected customer, which will explain that Southwestern Bell will, as an interim measure, roll-back rates for non-business customers. Southwestern Bell has also agreed to refund any overcharges on their part. Additionally, Southwestern Bell agreed to send a formal communication to the Public Utilities Commission stating their revised position. Southwestern Bell has indicated a willingness to work with COSUARD to arrive at a mutually acceptable solution. Stay tuned for further developments..... -- Judy Scheltema | uunet!nuchat!moray!judy Houston, Texas | bellcore!texbell!moray!judy
