We have two DEC LN03 printers. The last time I installed a "user maintenance kit" on each of them, it came with a new ozone filter that snaps in place over the rear fan grille. A day or two after I installed this ozone filter on each of our LN03's, the fusers burned out. I reported this to the DEC people who are responsible for caring about such things, and they tell me that they think it is just a coincidence, and that the ozone filter couldn't possibly cause the fuser to burn out. I'm curious if anybody else has had a fuser burn out shortly after installing the new ozone filter. Brian

Hi Brian. I would like to relay a problem that I have had with the ozone filters that DEC provides with the maintenance kits. The rest of the kit was in satisfactory condition but the ozone filter was cracked and broken. I sent it back for replacement and DEC sent me another broken ozone filter (wasn't that nice :-) - The instructions mention that the ozone filter should be examined before installation. This could be the cause of your problem... Hope this is helpful. Lori -- Lori Sokolowski - NEC Electronics +1 617 655 8833 lori@necntc.NEC.COM {ames, decvax, harvard, linus, mit-eddie}!necntc!lori
