I have a document on my desk known as an "analogue" that is put out by a man named W.F. Wheatley for the National Composition Association (NCA). The analogue is organized in alphabetical order by the name of the given typeface, and contains full cross-referencing by all of the known names. There are 32 manufacturers represented, including Linotype, Letraset, AM (Varityper), Autologic, Compugraphic, and many others. Here is a sample entry (for Helvetica): Helvetica (Merg) Akzidenz-Grotesk Buch (Berthold) Aristocrat (AM) Claro (Alphatype) Europa Grotesk (Scangraphic) Geneva (Autologic) Hamilton (QMS) Helios (CG) Megaron (AM) Newton (Unitex) Sonoman Sanserif (IBM) Spectra (III) Triumvurate (CG) (sic) Vega (Harris) For a copy of this typeface analogue please contact the National Composition Association directly: National Composition Association 1730 North Lynn Street Arlington, VA 22209 (703) 841-8165 Glenn Reid Adobe Systems PostScript Software Support [[Editor's note: The cost for the Typeface Analogue is $20.00 for non-members of the NCA. --Rick ]]
