[comp.laser-printers] symphony output to laser jet

kwf@druks.att.COM (FeltonK) (08/24/87)

I would like some information about sending initialization strings
from an IBM compatible PC running Symphony on MS-DOS 3.1 to a
Hewlett Packard Laser Jet (not laser jet+). I was trying to use the
Lotus initialization strings to output "landscape" format (turn page
on legal size paper) to the Laser Jet. The Laser Jet ignored the strings
I input through Symphony and printed the default format. If there is
anyone out there in net-land that could help, I would appreciate it.
				Thanks in Advance,

This may not be Symphony's problem. We've found that the Laser
Jet must see a Page Length change to 84 *before* the landscape
orientation command for the legal paper tray to operate correctly
with landscape
