Impress is a very fast, device dependent, page description language. It is fast because all operations are performed in fixed-point. The basic unit of measure is the pixel. The language was designed in late 1980; it has evolved somewhat but is essentially an old language now. Still, the vast majority of output that is of interest to users can be generated easily using impress. One or two raster effects that are rather awkward to specify in PostScript are easy to specify in impress, too. For more information, contact IMAGEN applications support at (408) 986-9400.
