[comp.laser-printers] Impress

geof@apolling.UUCP (Geof Cooper) (12/01/87)

Impress is a very fast, device dependent, page description language.
It is fast because all operations are performed in fixed-point. The
basic unit of measure is the pixel. The language was designed in late
1980; it has evolved somewhat but is essentially an old language now.
Still, the vast majority of output that is of interest to users can
be generated easily using impress. One or two raster effects that are
rather awkward to specify in PostScript are easy to specify in impress,
too.

For more information, contact IMAGEN applications support at
(408) 986-9400. Since the request came from Europe, I note that
the IMAGEN Europe office is in Munich, telephone [49-89] 91-60-91,
and they will be happy to help, too.
