I'm having some trouble getting a number of Apple LaserWriters and LW+s set up the same, margin-wise. Most have similar default coordinate systems but strange things happen when the letter, legal and note commands are used. On p.285 of the PostScript Reference Manual it says (regarding these commands): For all page types, the point (0,0) in default user coordinate space is the lower left corner of the entire page, not of the imageable region; that is, the origin lies some distance outside the lower left corner of the imageable region. The coordinate system is arranged this way so that switching page types does not affect the position of graphical objects on the paper but just changes the sizes of the margins. However, when I print a testpage to identify the location of the coordinate system, it moves to a different place when started with either of these 3 commands (these are all printers fitted with an A4 tray). Only the note option centers the imageable area on the page; all of the others are way out. The questions are: does this happen on the US models of LW too? and Does anyone know of a work-around? I believe that the "margins" parameters are used globally, so can't see a way of fixing the problem by using setmargins.
