We have a NEC SilentWriter LC-800 printer being used basically as an Apple LaserWriter look-alike (on AppleTalk net, using Apple's LaserWriter driver, V5.0.) Unfortunately, the NEC has a problem dealing with paper sources. When a print job requests paper from the manual feed tray, the printer obliges, but then becomes stuck in manual feed. The next job to also be printed from the manual feed tray, regardless of the paper source specs for that job. We have reproduced this using 2 SilentWriters, w/ v4 & 5 of the LaserWriter driver. NEC claims ignorance/apathy about the situation. My question: Has anybody seen this behaviour also. If so, have you had any success with fices/workarounds? What about custom-written print drivers? Mail or post replies, as you see fit. I thank you for any info you can share to help shed light on this mystery. Bill Douglass
