I would like to get some tips for printing address information on standard envelopes for business letters. We have an Apple LaserWriter Plus. When I slide an envelope into the manual feed tray, the toner gets deposited in the correct places, but the envelope always jams when it gets to the hot rollers. Does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry if you see this twice. I've been having problems posting news. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kevin Wu Dept. of Aeronautics and Astronautics wu@kaos.stanford.edu Durand Building, Room 358 {ucbvax, decvax}!decwrl!labrea!kaos!wu Stanford University (415) 723-4940 Stanford, California 94305-4035

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've found it very helpful to smooth down the left edge of the envelope, and the left halves of the top and bottom edges, by placing the envelope on a flat surface and running the back of a fingernail along the edges. This practice seems to have cut the jam-rate on the envelopes I print (not many, I admit) from about 80% to nearly zero. -- Dave Platt VOICE: (415) 493-8805 USNAIL: Coherent Thought Inc. 3350 West Bayshore #205 Palo Alto CA 94303 UUCP: ...!{ames,sun,uunet}!coherent!dplatt DOMAIN: dplatt@coherent.com INTERNET: coherent!dplatt@ames.arpa, ...@sun.com, ...@uunet.uu.net
