[comp.laser-printers] Envelopes

wu@SHADE.STANFORD.EDU (Kevin Wu) (03/31/88)

I would like to get some tips for printing address information on standard
envelopes for business letters. We have an Apple LaserWriter Plus.

When I slide an envelope into the manual feed tray, the toner gets
deposited in the correct places, but the envelope always jams when
it gets to the hot rollers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry if you see this twice. I've been having problems posting news.

I've found it very helpful to smooth down the left edge of the envelope,
and the left halves of the top and bottom edges, by placing the
envelope on a flat surface and running the back of a fingernail
along the edges. This practice seems to have cut the jam-rate on the
envelopes I print (not many, I admit) from about 80% to nearly zero.
