Sorry if you read this for the second time; our mailpaths-file was not correct, and I'm not sure whether the first posting got through! We have AppleTalk with many MacPluses and a LaserWriter connected. We also use the LW from a unix host via the 25-pin asynchronous line. Every now and then the serial line gets mystically stuck. When we turn the switch from "AppleTalk" to "9600", the yellow light starts double-blinking, indicating the state of waiting for more I/O. The LW does not accept input from the 25-pin port at this state. AppleTalk works normally from the MacPluses. Our LW has had several "fits" like this, and every time the LW started to work again eventually, but nobody actually knows who did what to correct the situation, or if it happened "by itself" (timeout?). Entering the interactive mode in the LW confirms the waiting state: %%[ status: waiting; source: serial 9 ]%% When the switch is turned back to "AppleTalk", the double blinking stops, and AppleTalk works normally. Has anybody had similar experiences, and how does one recover gracefully? Is there a 'master-reset' -command in the interactive mode (I'm not familiar with PostScript)?
