[comp.laser-printers] Apple LW+ wierdness

dbd@VX2.GBA.NYU.EDU (Daniel B Dobkin) (04/13/88)

We're having a problem with our LaserWriter that perhaps someone can
help us with:

The printer is connected to a DECserver-200 port and we've been
printing on it, no problems, using the standard VMS print symbiont.
Suddenly it stopped working, with the following symptom:

The first page prints, then the LW tosses the rest of the
data on the floor (page light flashes, but the paper doesn't
feed). Send another job, and the same thing happens.

We thought at first this was a problem with the printer and placed a
service call, turning up nothing. We have tried printing multi-page
documents from a Mac over AppleTalk; no problems there. We have turned
off flow-control everywhere we can (DECserver, VAX, you name it), but
still no luck.

Has anybody seen this before? Can anybody clue me as to where to look
next? Please send replies directly to me -- I don't often read these
lists.

Thanks,
