I have seen some ads for a Fujitsu PostScript laserprinter which looks (and sounds according to the specs) very much like the NEC 890 SilentWriter. It is supposed to have serial, parallel, & pletalk ports. Does anyone out there know any more about it or have any experience with it? Particularly, does anyone know of a mailorder house which carries it yet (an approximate street price would also be helpful). I am looking into PostScript printers to share between IBM PCs & a MAC-II (So far I have it down to the NEC 890, AST TurboLaser PS, QMS 810, & Qume Scripten). Does anyone have experience with these? Also, I've been told by an Apple vendor that printers such as the NEC 890 will only work if you purchase drivers (i.e. the standard LaserWriter driver won't hack it). This sounds patently false to me (the man only sells Apple LaserWriter II's), but I am by no means a MAC expert (I thought PostScript was PostScript no matter where you roam). Thanks for any info.
