[comp.laser-printers] DEC announces TCP/IP version of the LPS40

DEC's LPS40 laser printer has been on the market for a couple of
years, but it has been a DECNET-only device that works primarily with
VMS. Today Digital announced a TCP/IP version of the LPS40, and also
announced Ultrix software that uses the DECNET version of the protocols.

MAYNARD, Mass. -- February 15, 1989 -- Digital announced today PrintServer 
DECnet Client Software for ULTRIX and PrintServer TCP/IP Software for
ULTRIX for its PrintServer 40, a networked laser printer featuring Adobe's
PostScript page description language.  The PrintServer 40 is designed as a
shared departmental network printer that can support up to 100 users. It
handles cutsheet paper at rates up to 40 pages-per-minute. The PostScript
page description language interpreter from Adobe Systems, Inc. is built
into the PrintServer 40 and includes 29 resident typefaces.
