A general answer for fuser roller scoring: This is caused by excess loose toner building up on the "thermister" (sp?). This usually happens when the printers are not kept clean. Periodically, printers need to be vacuumed out to remove all loose toner. A blast of compressed or canned air doesn't hurt. Also, keep the Fuser cleaner pad clean. All new cartridges come with a new one, and any good recharging firm will refelt an old one for free. As for rebuilt fuser rollers: They are available, but the cost is only marginally less than new. The rebuilts use a teflon more like "silverstone", but are not as effient in heat transfer as OEM rollers. Also, The rebuilt's diameter may be larger than OEM's specs. This can be adjusted for, and a customer may do it himself, BUT only be sure you have obtained good instructionsor have a field engineer able to answer your questions. The rebuilts are not the best solution in 20% of the cases needing replacement. You may find that your print is lighter after installing a rebuilt fuser roller. Remember: Get the entire fuser kit when replacing a fuser roller. The kit will include bushings, bearings, etc. The price for the fuser roller mentioned in the previous post seemed high, but was that Canadian dollars, or US? I have access to kits for all Canon engined laser printers. This includes Apple, HP, QMS, Brother, etc. I am listed in the phone book for those who can't e-mail or post anyother questions. -- Every child deserves a home of his own. - Harry Holt Dan Mehlhorn uucp: dan@amperif.uucp All comments are my own.
