What Ho,
apologies in advance if these questions have
already been flogged to death in this forum.
I am interested in peoples' evaluations of PostScript laser
printers with resolutions higher than the standard
LaserWriter 300 dpi.
Firstly, there's an outfit calling themselves LaserSmiths
in Santa Clara. They claim a 415 dpi printer for $4,000.
Anybody seen one, touched one, printed anything on one,
know it it's `real' PostScript, or have anything at all to
say about this?
Secondly, Varityper were pushing a 600 dpi laser printer
a while back. Anybody have any information on this? They
weren't quoting any prices, which means to me that they're
expensive. Anybody out there have access to a VT600? Are
there any local (Northern California) service bureaus that
have these machines?
Thanks in Advance,
............... Henry

One of the most recent issues of PC Magazine - November 10th or therabouts I think - has their annual printer review which lists many laser printers including the VariTyper 600 asked about. As far as I remember they had high praise for it. If anyone wants any specific info about their review on any printer (they covered a very wide range, devoted something like half the magazine to it) mail me direct and I will dig out the mag. Apologies if someone else has already drawn your attention to this magazine, I missed a stack of messages this week. Dermot.
