I need a postscript program that can be loaded into a Laserwriter, and then remains running on the LW. The program should accept input from the RS-232 and interpret it as Epson-like control codes. I want my LW to emulate an Epson printer, with of course some of the escapes implemented. I cannot use one of the ascii -> PS convertors, because my application has to print directly to a port, and the end-user cannot keep leaving the application to close his redirection and run p2ps. On a different note, is the any Apple specific Postscript command to change the emulation mode of the LW ? With DIP switches you can tell the LW to behave as a LaserJet and this works well enough for me. The DIP switches do not have the life expectancy that I need for this job: I have to switch between PS and LJ several times per day, and the switches already feel <loose> to me. So, I would like to run one PS program to switch from PS to LJ emulation. Is there any command to do this ? Please (also) reply directly to me, I cannot subscribe to this list.
