Here at U/Illinois, we use imagen's, one is a 4320, the other a ?. Anyway, the turbo ultrascript is incredibly fast -- maybe 10 pages a minute throughput. Unfortunately, this postscript interpreter is very buggy. I generate macintosh documents and print them on these printers. I have never been able to print more than 10 pages at a time -- the printer dies with some sort of lame excuse, when a laserwriter would do just fine on the same print job. My 40-page thesis took all day to print -- I kept getting printer crashes. We use the imagen-supplied laserwriter dictionaries (dictv52.ps). At one point, I tried to incorporate a mathematica picture (postscript) into my MS-Word thesis. This particular job completely overflowed the ultrascript interpreter (too many symbols in the dictionary), and would not print. Unlike the other problems, where I could break the document up into smaller print jobs, I had no workaround for this problem. I wonder if anyone knows any workarounds for these problems, or if anyone at imagen is accepting gripes about their ultrascript interpreter.
