Sorry this took so long, I was raising the cash and gathering info. I have received quite a few comments and suggestions over the past few weeks. Many have asked for a followup on my conclusions. Let me first thank all of you who replied to my original article in which I asked for your opinions. To recap, I wanted to know which postscript printer was best for our IBM and Apple network (within a reasonable price range). Three recommendations stood out. The QMS 810, the Nec 890, and the Laserwriter II-NT from Apple. Between the QMS and the NEC the best choice according to your responses and my research has to be the QMS. Overall, the best choice and the one I finally chose to get is the Apple II-NT. The prefered LAN was TOPS. Comments on output quality gave the QMS and the Apple identical scores while the NEC lagged behind. Maintenance and reliability were practically identical for all three. Pricewise all sell for around $3500 but, the Apple sells for $3000. All three printers have IBM and Apple connections. According to the responses, the best engine is the Cannon as apose to a Ricoh, Mita or Toshiba. Here are the specs for all three in order of choice. Hope this helps those interested. Again thank you all that responded.
