[comp.laser-printers] Linotype RIP???

woody@IEAR.ARTS.RPI.EDU (Christopher Widmann) (07/23/90)

I just recently inherrited a Linotype Postscript RIP i/o controller
and brains. It seems to have an Adobe Redstone Poscript i/o controller,
an Adobe PCMerg (seems like support for several interfaces), and a DTC
510X controller, and if I am not mistaken, looks like a hard drive
controller. I need some more specs and information concerning this
beast. What is RIP? (Raster Image Printer?), and what is the hard disk
used for (swap? storage of fonts?), and what type of interface is the
hard disk controller? I am almost clueless concerning many of the things
connected to the Adobe controller. Does anyone have any specs on what
port to use to attach to a CX engine? Any help would be greatly
appreciated! Thanks.
