Hello out there, I have a question concerning the Kyocera P-2000 laser-printer. Does anybody know how to avoid the drum kit change every 10,000 copies ? As far as I know the P-2000 uses the same drum kit as the the Kyocera F-series and in another institute at our site they use the drum for more than 20,000 copies in an F-1200 without any problems (except that the display shows the message "Change the drum kit" or something like that after 10,000 copies, but that doesn't bother anyone). In the opposite the P-2000 stops printing every second or third page when a drum kit change is due. How to avoid that ? Answers are welcome via e-mail (address below) or via posting. If I get enough answers I will post a summary. Here at our site we have several Kyocera F series laser printers, some of which are newer than others. On the older models we were able to continue printing after the "Replace drum kit" message while on the newer models printing stopped as soon as the message appeared. After checking with our service vendor, we found that there was a firmware upgrade on the newer models that halts printing when the message appears. This was confirmed recently when one of our older models had its firmware upgraded. Two days later the dreaded message appeared and printing stopped! However our service tech was able to come out and set a switch (whether hardware or software not known) and we were (and are) able to print again until a replacement drum kit comes in. Hope that helps out! Larry ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Larry Seals | seals@uncvx1.bitnet NCSEAA | RTP, NC | "My views are more or less my own."
