We are considering to equip our LaserJet-Series-II and LaserJet-III printers with cartridges for PostScript emulation. We are told that cartridges are available 1) from Hewlett Packard for LaserJet-III, 2) from Pacific Page for LaserJet-Series-II and 3) from Adobe for LaserJet-Series-II. Further we know that we need to upgrade the printers with an additional memory board of 2MB. But before buying these accessories, we would like to know any problems related with them, in particular, any problems concerning the compatibility of the emulated PostScript compared to usual PostScript printers, e.g. to the LaserWriter. Our questions: 1) Which company's PostScript cartridge would you suggest? Are other PostScript options available? 2) We mainly are using the following software to generate PS printer output: Framemaker, SunWrite, dvips, dvialw (TeX drivers family). Are there any known problems when printing these files on a PS emulating LaserJet? Are there any known configuration problems with the software? 3) We heard a rumor that the built-in fonts of some cartridges are incompatible with the Adobe fonts. Does anyone know of this? Thanks in advance. ============================================================================== Heribert Schlebbe E-Mail: Institut fuer Informatik schlebbe@azu.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de Universitaet Stuttgart Azenbergstrasse 12 Phone: D-7000 Stuttgart 1 / Germany 0711-121-1366 ==============================================================================
