The recent discussion about memory requirements for postscript printers raised a silly "problem" I have. How can I tell if extra memory added to my printer is beneficial? The situation is this: I bought a TI PS35 MicroLaser. It comes with 1.5 Mbytes. My needs are pretty simple, troff and bits and pieces I pick up off the net. Last Christmas, some relatives asked what they could get as a gift. Thinking extra printer memory might help performance if I do more complicated things, I said "BUY RAM". Sure enough, they did! Now, each time I see my relatives, they ask if the memory helped. But, I can not see any difference for the things I do with the printer. So I have to tell them, "No, but I'm sure somethings I do in the future will be MUCH faster with the extra memory. Thanks for the gift." Help me; do you have a test case that would demonstrate the benefit of my printers extra memory? I have not problem deinstalling the memory cards to document the benefit. Gosh, can you imagine even considering that 1.5 Mbytes in a PRINTER might be thought of as a small amount of memory. I'm showing my age, but I can remember being thrilled to go from 16 Kbytes to 64 Kbytes in my computer. Times change! Jon -- Jon LaBadie {att, princeton, bcr, attmail!auxnj}!jonlab!jon
