Hi Folks, A friend of mine asked me about the best available software for DeskTop Publishing. For a long while, I have been developing and woking in a Unix environment, and I am kind of outdated on the PC environment. Purpose of software is to edit and work on documents with pictures, fonts,..... Also, he wants to buy a 386. I am aware of Compaq, AST, Dell. If you know about other reliable brands, please email me them. Info on Laser Printers will be appreciable also. Please email responses to elassaad@ececroc.ece.ncsu.edu Thanks a lot, Shauki

The two biggies used today are Aldus Pagemaker and Xerox Ventura Publisher I've used both, PageMaker is much easier to use, but it seems that Ventura will do a little more. Pagemaker also runs under Windows which means you have to have a mondo computer to run it effectively. Ventura has several versions, one of which runs under the GEM environment and will run with less memory and slower clock speed than the Windows based version (or Pagemaker).

Organizations looks like a very interesting toolkit from the point of building user interfaces. (Where can I get a good overview from??) Now, can I use Nihcl in conjunction with InterViews; can I use say Time:: from Nihcl and WhatEver:: from Interviews to derive a new class ?? If this sort of question has been asked before, please accept my apologies...I have a lot of reading to do! Thanks in advance Neil Davis Meiko 650 Aztec Way Bristol England
