[net.bugs.uucp] uucico bug

msitd22@ms3.UUCP (Jim Chappell) (04/09/86)

We're a 4.2BSD site. Situation is: uucico times out following its
HUP OO to the slave system very often. We have our retry time set to 450 secs
and are annoying our usenet feeder by repeated do-nothing calls.

I'll appreciate any help.

We have the same problem now with one site we talk to, but that
site is beta 4.3. We have no problems talking to other 4.2's,
system V, or a UNIPLUS machine. Only with the 4.3 site (hi there
sunybcs!loverso) do we get timeout's 98% of the time. I stopped
complaining a while ago.

we are running 4.3BSD uucp (or should I say the latest from rick@seismo,
which is close to 4.3 uucp) and we have the same problem with uucico
whenever I contact a 4.2 site. I'd say it happens about once every
10-15 calls. I haven't had the time to track it down and since it happens
less than 10 percent of the time, it ain't too annoying. There is
definately some problem (incompatibility?) between 4.2 and 4.3 uucp.

If anyone figures this out, let me know.

Thanks.
