. Subscribers to this newsgroup (particularly those abroad) may be
interested , not to say concerned , to hear that the BBC have shelved the
filming of further "Dr Who" episodes for a period of at least 18 months. As a
cost cutting measure, this move is difficult to fathom as "Dr Who" must be
one of the Beeb's most profitable productions, with worldwide viewing figures
in excess of one hundred million.
Effectively, this means that "Dr Who" 'dies' for at least two years
with no guarantee forthcoming from the BBC that production will ever recommence.
Whilst this prospect is unlikely, the disruption caused to the series by the
intervening gap will be considerable, and will almost certainly have a detri-
-mental effect on foriegn sales and fandom generally.
Followers of the series may like to express their concern to the BBC
in writing, as we have done.Their address follows:

			The Director General's office,
			 BBC Television Centre,
			  Wood Lane,
			   LONDON W12 8QT.

Alternatively, you could express your concern to the local TV station
which carries "Dr Who" in the hope that their voice may weigh heavier.
