We are the test site for Develcon hardware/software. Their offices etc. are just across the city. I referred the question about Dataswitch 4.x software to Don Friesen in Develcon. He says that the basic problem with the 4.1 software is that it is much more popular than expected which caused scheduling problems. Version 4.1 has been out for about one month and currently about 15 systems have been delivered. You (duke!mcnc!taylor) also asked about the ds507. We have some in-house and the word from my technicians (NOT from develcon) is that they think they are better than the 512 or 9511's, better isolation for one thing, and of course you don't plug it into a power outlet. On the negative side, they say that the plug for the leased-line input is not as mechanically sound as is the rs232 plug and it might break off with rough handling. For this reason I think they would disagree with the bit about 'goes directly on back of terminal'. It certainly can be connected that way but my techs say you may have problems if the terminal is then pushed against a wall. Don't know anything about infotron switch.
