[rec.motorcycles] Chaos in Harley Engines

dridgway@jarthur.Claremont.EDU (Douglas Ridgway) (04/08/90)

I was listening to a talk at a conference here yestereday, and a professor
from Reed mentioned that he had had a student looking for signs of
chaotic fluctuations in an internal combustion engine.
Because the student rode Harleys, the engine used in the experiment was
"a badly tuned Harley-Davidson engine."

The research didn't get anywhere, however, due to "a lack of hard
work on the part of student."

If I had a Harley, I'd rather ride it too.
