(this is going to both sci.mil and rec.games.board.. it's written
toward the former, so the wording might not sit right toward
 readers of the latter)

[mod.note: Followups to sci.military or email, please. - Bill ]

I know this has been gone over before, but since I didn't need to
know at the time, I just "n"'d it..

I need to know aproxamately the organisation of the US Army
(I know the US Marine Corps MEU organisation (company-bn-blt, etc))

I dont' need to know anything smaller than a Battalion.. but I do
need to know the diff. between the organisation of Armor, Motorised/
Mobilised Infantry, regular Infanty, etc (and, actually, I probably
do need some idea of the internals of a motorised infantry bn)..

I also need to know the aproxamate area each size of unit controls
(ie. along a front, how much area do you give to each BN?).

My specific application is making a game.. I'm probably going to
make hexes the size of about 20 miles across, and need to know what
size group would apply, and whether I'd have amorphous "army units", or
would I still be dealing with "a group of tanks" and "a group of soldiers".

Since my info on the USMC is pretty cursory, info on them would be
welcomed too (hey, I"m just a Navy guy, ok?).

Last, if there's anyone out there interested in play testing my
idea, let me know (though, I'll have to ask you to send me an agreement
to be sure the idea stays mine.. I've had friends get ideas taken out
from underthem because they weren't careful.. while I might come across
as harsh, I'm really not interested in seeing someone else take off with
my inspiration)
